Butt and Co – 1971/2005
Established his own firm in1971. It has now grown into a medium sized accountancy practice. The practice specialises in providing comprehensive financial advice for small and medium sized clients, with the single aim of helping its clients succeed, which is encapsulated in the firms theme "Your success is our business". This pro-active approach has assisted the growth of a substantial number of commercial and owner/family managed companies, as well as professional consultancies.

Universal Group of Companies – 1973/1976

Joined the group as accountant, followed by appointment to group accountant. He was promoted to financial director of universal cleaning supplies ltd. Due to his positive contribution and involvement in company policy deliberations that led to higher productivity and profitability he was appointed to the post of managing director of universal cleaning supplies ltd and Director of Finance for the whole group of companies.

Cadbury Schweppes – 1971/1973
He joined the company as an accounts assistant. Whilst employed by Cadburys Overseas he was responsible for preparing and submitting two overseas industrial project appraisal reports. This involved the use of complex statistical techniques to appraise foreign direct investment.
